Samut, the Tested is a red and green human Planeswalker, introduced in August 2017, a month after the release of the Hour of Devastation card set.
She has high health, average mana gains with an unbalanced spread, and average deck limits with a strong focus on Creatures. She has high mana gains in her colors, with a rare spread of low minuses (-1) across the other three. Her total of +7 is less than normal for Planeswalkers, but not for early ones, which often have bonus totals a point or three lower.
Her abilities revolve around Creatures, including a temporary buff with Double Strike, a permanent buff with Afflict, Berserker, and Trample, and a support Token which deals extra damage each time her creature damage the opponent.
| Effect 4 = Create a Support (3 shield) with "When a creature you control deals damage to your opponent, your opponent takes an extra 8 damage."

Story
"Like many survivors, Samut was once counted among the brave initiates of Naktamun. Her mastery of her dual khopeshes and her renowned speed earned her a place as a leader of the Tah crop. Along with her close friend, Djeru, she completed the first three trials of the gods. But in Bontu’s Trial of Ambition, Samut refused to take the life of a fellow initiate. For challenging the God-Pharaoh’s teachings and turning away from the path of worthiness, Samut was convicted of being a dissident, sealed in a sarcophagus, and left to die.<br>It was Chandra's fiery prison break that saved Samut’s life. Freed from the sarcophagus, Samut risked her own life to save Djeru from a Glorified Death at the hands of the god Hazoret. Djeru was furious at her for intervening, but Samut believed there was more to life than the pursuit of a Glorified Death.<br>After the God-Pharaoh’s betrayal was revealed, Samut only grew in her conviction, and she vowed to fight for the survival and freedom of her people. A natural leader, her spirit and determination inspired those around her. She knew what the people of Naktamun were capable of; she had trained with them and fought alongside them. They were each stronger than they knew, and she refused to allow them to give up.<br>Samut regained Djeru’s friendship, and together they led the charge to save the god Hazoret from the sting of the Scorpion God—a victory that preserved a fragile ray of hope for the world’s future. In a moment of triumph, Samut’s Planeswalker spark ignited. As she was flung far away from the devastation on Amonkhet, her heart cried out for the only home she had ever known."
