He has lower than average health and average deck limits with a focus on spells. Until Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty's Tezzeret, Betrayer of Flesh in 2022, JMM had the highest Blue mana gains, at +7.
His abilities, some of which are triggered by a Kicker cost or Wizardry, all manipulate cards, especially Copy them; sometimes with mana gain. He can also draw cards, and destroy cards in libraries. He can make a copy of his Vanguard support from ZNR; because they do not reinforce, they can potentially cover the board. His  Jace's first Loyalty ability is tied for second cheapest. Uniquely, his third ability becomes cheaper as it levels up, and becomes cheaper than his first (and tied for cheapest in the gamewith Ob Nixilis Reignited). It even starts out cheaper than his second, but it is also less powerful. His Starting Deck has two Landforming cards which can make Land supports, including "Glasspool Mimic", a Rogue which buffs itself with the power and toughness of another creature on the board.
Jace, Mirror Mage is the fourth of a handful of playable Planeswalkers in MtGPQ which embody Jace Beleren at different points in his life.
