[[Koth of the Hammer]] is a red human Planeswalker, announced in March 2023 along with the [[Phyrexia: All Will Be One]] ([[ONE]]) card set.
He has average health and deck limits which slightly favor Spells at the expense of Supports. Unlike the original Koth, he has a normal mana bonus total, while retaining the +9 spike bonus to Red, tied for highest in the game with [[Koth of the Hammer]] and [[Jaya, Fiery Negotiator]].
His abilities are focused on and quantified by gems and Land supports, including dealing damage based on their numbers. He can destroy non-red gems on the board, reduce Vanguard Shields, and create a support {{Ability|Token}} which does all three of these things. Destroying gems can be a source of Mana when other gems fall into the vacated spaces and make a cascade [[matching|match]].
Koth, Fire of Resistance is the first of two [[Planeswalkers]] in MtGPQ to embody Koth at different points in his [[#Story|life story]]. Koth, Fire of Resistance's Mirrodin homeland is directly connected to the events of [[ONE]], and ONE is the first time Mirrodin has been a major setting in Puzzle Quest.
