[[Gideon Blackblade]] is a white human Planeswalker, introduced in June 2019 along with the [[War of the Spark]] card set.
His abilities include a temporary creature buff and a {{Ability|Vanguard}} support destruction ability. He has high healthcan also enter the battlefield as a Soldier creature token; while it remains on the battlefield and enabled, the player is invulnerable to damage. The most powerful aspect of this unique third ability is its {{Ability|Prevent Damage|prevention of damage}} to the player themselves. The other requires his creature token to die; a serious drawback, high mana gains but it is at least possible for his third ability to remove creatures with a slightly unbalanced spread{{Ability|Ward}} or {{Ability|Hexproof}}. The first ability can do this too, provided the creature it buffs is sufficiently large to block creatures once given {{Ability|Vigilance}} and as-yet unknown deck limits{{Ability|First Strike}}. His Soldier token is given {{Ability|Berserker}} at level 46, making it a much less reliable source of invulnerability.
