His abilities have a creature destruction and color leeching themes. He can damaging a creature and gain permanent mana bonuses according to its colors, or exile a creature and an additional support if the creature wasn't colorless. His ultimate ability is a powerhouse of life gain, card draw, and mana gain.
Ugin's rune cost to increase levels is the same as the cost to level a mono-colored Planeswalker ({{Runes|79,920}}). This is in contrast to the cost of the other released colorless Planeswalkers, [[Karn, Scion of Urza]] and [[The Eldrazi Desolation]], whose leveling costs match that of three-color Planeswalkers ({{Runes|323,750}}). At the time of release, this Ugin's relatively low leveling cost has not yet been confirmed as a bug.
