Planeswalkers are used in all battles in Magic the Gathering: Puzzle Quest.
The Planeswalker selected along with the level of that Planeswalker determines:
- How many Hit Points the player has
- How much mana matches of each color creates
- What colors of cards are allowed in a deck
- How many cards of each type are allowed to be placed into a deck
- Adds three abilities that use loyalty to create additional effects outside of the deck
