A Legendary match is one where players gain the advantage of double mana and double damage after a set number of turns. Early use of Legendary matches gave these benefits to both the player and the opponent. Trial of the Planes introduced the idea that Legendary could be applied one-sided, where only the opponent gets the benefits and the player must play with a handicap.
