Starting Deck
Story
Ajani is a brave, compassionate Leonin from the Naya shard of Alara. He wields a unique dual-headed axe with precision and power, and he uses his sharp claws to deliver lethal blows during battle. Though a single-minded warrior in his youth, Ajani has come to learn that weapons are not always the solution to conflict. Still, when innocents are threatened, he will throw himself into the fray without a second thought.
Ajani has powers that extend well beyond physical prowess. He specializes in magic that strengthens and sustains his allies, inspiring those fighting alongside him and buoying their essences. He’s also proficient at healing magic. Others are drawn to Ajani’s compassionate, understanding nature and quickly form trusting friendships with him. He’s loyal to a fault, and those who have Ajani’s support are heartened to know he’s on their side.
Ajani arrived on Kaladesh after hearing that Tezzeret, a violent criminal Planeswalker, was there. As a Leonin of his stature, he found it difficult to blend in; thus, in order to procure information about Tezzeret, he secured the aid and friendship of Oviya Pashiri, a renegade inventor with a network of connections.
After the arrival of the Gatewatch on the plane, Oviya, Chandra, and Nissa were trapped by the Consulate during their attempt to rescue Pia Nalaar. Without hesitation, Ajani charged in to help his new friend. He was glad to see other Planeswalkers had come to face Tezzeret, who he perceived as a terrible threat both to Kaladesh and the Multiverse. Ajani vowed he would not stand idly by when a people were being oppressed, nor when homes were threatened. He proudly took the oath to stand watch over the myriad worlds of the Multiverse and joined the Gatewatch.
