==Overview==Infobox FormatsEach Standard is a card set is either format which includes LegacyOrigins or Standard. Standard card sets include all sets newer than a certain age, plus Origins, which is always a Standard between four and eight of the newest main-line card setsets.
* Starting in 3.0, Standard in MtGPQ will follow tabletop MtG’s own Standard format with the single difference of Origins always being in Standard. * Sets will be added is often contrasted to Standard until it reaches 8 non-Origins sets. * Once the ninth non-Origins Set is added, the oldest four non-Origins Sets will be moved into the Legacy Format.* If your deck complies with the Standard Format format, it will not have the Legacy Ribbon () on top corner of the deck editor.* Using this formulaa format including all card sets, XLNor Block format, RIX, DOM, and M19 should all rotate out together sometime in the fall of 2019which includes selected card sets only.
Oktagon confirmed, in 2023, that they would be following Wizards of the Coast in extending the Standard playability of cards to three years instead of two. MID, VOW, NEO, and SNC will not be rotating out until 2024, but presumably in the third quarter of the year, as before 2023. When Dominaria United was released in October 2022, Standard format rotated, and the previously Standard sets Zendikar Rising, Kaldheim, Strixhaven, and Adventures in the Forgotten Realms became Legacy sets. == How Standard changes ==The card sets in Standard format match the Standard format of tabletop MtG, with the single difference of Origins always being in Standard. The Standard format changes according to the following rules: Cards rotate out in their third year, including the year they were released. === Before 2023 ===Rotation took place in the third quarter of the year. The Standard format changed according to the following rules, until 2023:* New sets were added to Standard until Standard contained Origins plus 8 main-line non-Origins card sets. Zendikar vs Eldrazi and Daxos vs Kalemne are not considered main-line card sets.* When the 9th non-Origins set (10 main-line Standard sets including Origins) was added, the oldest group of four non-Origins Sets, and any non-mainline sets, were removed from Standard. === Rotations ===When Innistrad: Midnight Hunt was released in October 2021, Throne of Eldraine, Theros Beyond Death, Daxos vs Kalemne, Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths and Core Set 2021 became Legacy sets. In the fourth quarter of 2020, after the release of Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths, Core Set 2021, and Zendikar Rising, the following card sets rotated out of Standard: Zendikar vs Eldrazi, Guilds of Ravnica, Ravnica Allegiance, War of the Spark and M20. When Throne of Eldraine was added to MtGPQ in November 2019 Ixalan, Rivals of Ixalan, Dominaria, and M19 rotated out. ==In events==In a Standard Format event, decks may only be played if they must include only contain cards from Standard card sets. Standard events were introduced as a way of combating power creep, and lowering the barrier of entry for new players.

==In decks==Any deck containing only Standard cards is a Standard deck, and may be played in Standard or Legacy events. * A Standard format Deck shows no ribbon in the deck editor.* A Legacy format Deck shows the Legacy Ribbon (17) with the deck.
