Ugin's rune cost to increase levels is the same as the cost to level a mono-colored Planeswalker ({{Runes|79,920}}). This is in contrast to the cost of the other released colorless Planeswalkers, [[Karn, Scion of Urza]] and [[The Eldrazi Desolation]], whose leveling costs match that of three-color Planeswalkers ({{Runes|323,750}}). At the time of release, Ugin's relatively low leveling cost has not yet been confirmed as a bug.
Ugin is the first of a small number of playable Planeswalkers in MtGPQ which embody the construct Planeswalker Karn at different points in his life.
