Return of the God-Pharaoh is a [[Legacy]] [[PvE]] [[Coalition]] [[event]] with a [[#History|long history]], including having its [[#Historical objectives|objectives changed]] in 2018 and in 2023. In 2024, [[#Before 2024|both decks and objectives were changed]]. It was introduced in July 2017 with the [[Hour of Devastation]] set.
Because it is a PvE event, the opponents' deck lists are full of cards from Hour of Devastation and its plane of Amonkhet. [[A World Reborn]], [[Avacyn's Madness]], [[Battle of Four Tribes]] and [[The Elderspark]] are also both PvE and Coalition. None of its objectives require cards from HOU. Elements from HOU, other than the cards and bosses themselves are present: [[#1.3 Proven Combatant|Proven Combatant's ability]] affects {{Ability|Activate|Activated}} gems, one summons Zombies, and another buffs them once cast.
The 70 hour Avacyn's Madness will be the longest and most difficult event newer players have seen. Return of the God-Pharaoh is longer still: 96 hours - four days. Because it is a Boss Health event, it may, like Avacyn's Madness, end sooner.

= History =
A more than five year old event, which diminished in frequency in its fourth and fifth year; it was scheduled to run three times each in 2019 and 2020, twice in 2021, and once in 2022, on the 4th of November. Currently seeing a resurgence, being run on the 10th of February, 2023, and the 27th of October, 2023.
Objectives have been changed thrice; first in July 2018. In 2023, Puzzle Quest's new developers, Webcore, replaced some of the objectives for the near-Halloween running of this event.
The deck list for [[#1.1 The Sunset Pyramid|Node 1.1, The Sunset Pyramid]], was incomplete for years. When originally compiled, a duplicate listing of {{Card URL|Dunes of the Dead}} was overlooked. The correct card listing, {{Card URL|Desert of the Fervent}}, was added before the November 2022 run.
[[A World Reborn]], [[Avacyn's Madness]], [[Battle of Four Tribes]] and [[The Elderspark]] are also both PvE and Coalition; all were run a varying number of years ago, and Oktagon seemed to have given up on the format. Webcore set to in January 2024 with two PvE coalition events back to back : [[Survivors of Four Tribes Part 1]] and [[Survivors of Four Tribes Part 2|part 2]].
