Hespecializes in blue artifice magic: spells that forgeand manipulate artifacts, sometimes even bringingthem to life.

A talented artificer from the Alara shard of Esper, his body is enhanced with the magical alloyetherium, a practice common among Esperites.Tezzeret became an initiate of a mage sect calledthe Seekers of Carmot, hoping to gain access tothe sacred Codex Etherium tome. When heintruded into the sanctum of the Seekers, however, he uncovered truths others didn't wanthim to find and a conspiracy much larger thanhimself.

Mortally wounded by the guards, Tezzeret's sparkignited, hurling his battered body between theplanes to Grixis, where he laid dying. Revived bythe scheming elder dragon Nicol Bolas, Tezzeretwas forced into servitude in exchange for his life. Tezzeret then went on to seize control of the cabalknown as the Infinite Consortium (or at least Bolasallowed him to think he had). On the plane ofRavnica, from which Tezzeret led the Consortium,he recruited fellow Planeswalker Jace Beleren, hoping to use him as a powerful pawn. But Jacehad other ideas and defeated Tezzeret in combat, erasing his mind almost completely. Bolasretrieved Tezzeret’s body, rebuilding it for asinister new task.

Later, the elder dragon sent him to the plane ofMirrodin to observe the growth of New Phyrexiaand report on its progress. Tezzeret, using hisinherent guile and wit, established himself withinthe Phyrexian hierarchy. As always, he watches foran opportunity to gain power and turn thesituation to his advantage.
