He has lower than average health and average deck limits with a focus on Spells. He has very good mana gains in his colors, neutral from White and Black, and a -2 to Green.

His abilities have a Spells theme, including dealing damage and gaining mana according to the spells in his graveyard, and creating a support Token  which deals damage and draws cards whenever he casts a spell. He can also choose a card amongst the top cards of his library, with a mana bonus.

Ral, Izzet Viceroy is the first of a small number of playable Planeswalkers in MtGPQ which embody Ral Zarek at different points in his life.
