He has lower than average health and average deck limits. He has good mana gains in Blue, descending a point at a time through White, Green, and Red, and dipping three points to Black.

His abilities have a control theme, including returning a creature from play to its owner's hand, drawing cards and gaining an extra swap, and creating a powerful support Token  which progressively strips away the opponent's creatures, supports, and mana as Teferi draws cards. Such a powerful lockdown has to come at a price; Zhalfir's Fate is a fragile thing, with only two Shield and costing 21 Loyalty, it can easily come to nothing, especially when compared to the twelve shield on Nicol Bolas, the Ravager's Major Bolas' Omnipotence token, which can also shut down the opponent's game, albeit more slowly.

Teferi, Hero of Dominaria is the first of several playable Planeswalkers in MtGPQ which embody Teferi Akosa at different points in his life.

Story

"After sacrificing his Planeswalker spark to save Dominaria from temporal rifts caused by his previous meddling, Teferi could no longer traverse the planes. Now, with his spark restored by his friend Jhoira, he is ready to confront the mistakes of his past. Mistakes that he is constantly reminded of by the unnatural void that took his homeland's (Zhalfir) place in the plane."
