The Dragon War

The Dragon War was a Legacy Coalition PvP event, first released in July 2018 along with the Core Set 2019 card set. It was deactivated in 2020, not long after it was last run in March, 2020.[1]

The player faced a different Dragon in each node, adding the Dragon's abilities to their Loyalty abilities.

Once a Planeswalker was chosen for a node, another might not be chosen for that node, nor might that Planeswalker be chosen for another node, for the whole event.

The Dragon War changed from Standard to Legacy in November 2019 (v3.9).

Completing its objectives was possible without cards from its associated set.

Special rules

Color restriction	One or more nodes in this event can only be played by Planeswalkers of a specified color.

Locked nodes	Once a Planeswalker has been chosen for a node, it's locked in for the whole event.

Permanent support		A permanent support affects play on one or more nodes.

	The following effects are added to your Planeswalker's abilities: 1st Ability: Your first creature deals damage equal its power to the first creature your opponent controls. 2nd Ability: Your creatures gain Berserker , Trample  and Prevent Damage  until end of turn. 3rd Ability: Your creatures gain "Whenever this creature becomes the target of a Spell it gets +3/+3".

Story

"Legends of an ancient Elder Dragon War describe five elder dragons as the only survivors of an ages-long conflict against others of their kind. They are said to have become the ancestors of all dragons, drakes, and wurms on their home plane, and possibly beyond."
