Of Machine And Freedom is a Standard Coalition PvP event, announed in March 2023 following the Phyrexia: All Will Be One (ONE) card set.

As with a growing minority of events, the requirements of the objectives in Of Machine And Freedom (BtP) feature no elements of the associated set that are found only in ONE cards. However, the event's supports mirror the war for Mirrodin in New Phyrexia, and the top node unleashes the deadly Phyrexian Toxin unique, so far, to the Phyrexia: All Will Be One set.

Since OMaF can be fully completed with cards from any set, it could remain Standard even when cards from its associated set have rotated into Legacy.

Of Machine And Freedom has the same points allocation (5 for the win and 3 and 2 for secondaries) and duration (46 hours) as many Coalition events, and returns to the 140 point norm.

On the release of 6.1.0, it was announced that not only would OMF take on the Colors of Magic timing for additional charges as Break the Powerstone had, but previous events would, as well. Consequently, a large number of the total charges are available at the start, and the rest added on the second day of the event, 23.5 hours later.

It gains 6 mana. This effect can trigger only once per turn. When you Proliferate: Your first creature gets +1/+1. This effect can trigger only once per turn. When you match this support's gem: If your opponent doesn't control a card named Phyrexian Toxin, create a Phyrexian Toxin token under your opponent's control.

When you cast a non-Equipment Artifact card: Your first creature gets +X/+X. X is the number of that creature's reinforcements. This effect can trigger only once per turn. At the end of your turn: Gain Y mana. Y is the total shield of Artifact supports you control.

Story

"Many years ago, a drop of corrupt Oil let loose an infection that caused the world of Mirrodin to be transformed into New Phyrexia. While most of the Mirrans were Compleated into partially mechanical Phyrexians, which plan to share this change with the whole multiverse, some still resist, fighting to keep their free will and claim back their home. Now, it is your turn to make a choice: will you rebel against the machine or embrace it?"
