Terrors in the Shadows (TiS) is a Standard Coalition PvP event introduced in August 2016, along with the release of the Shadows over Innistrad set.
== Overview History ==Between December 2016 and August 2024, Terrors in the Shadows (TiS) is was a PvP Legacy event introduced in August 2016. In October 2021 its rewards were updated to feature the newly-released Innistrad: Midnight Hunt set, along with the release of the and Shadows over Innistrad: Crimson Vow rewards were added in May 2022. TiS had long been an especially competitive event, due to its rewards being from an old setwhich is harder to acquire.
Each battle in this event has had a secondary objective to summon a pair of thematically terrifying creatures. In August 2025 the White node objective was altered. In November 2024 the Green node objective was altered.
Prior to December 2016Planeswalkers could only be used on a single node. Once a Planeswalker was selected for a node, Terrors in the Shadows that node was a Coalition event. In October 2021 its rewards were updated to feature the newly-released Innistrad: Midnight Hunt setlocked, and Innistrad: Crimson Vow rewards no other Planeswalkers could be selected. Selected Planeswalkers were added in May 2022.  TiS had long been a popular and especially competitive event, due to its rewards being removed from an old set which is harder to acquire. After selection for the rewards change, some players began pulling their punches, and trying for third place Shadows over Innistrad Rewards on purposeother nodes.
Before Webcore's standardization of full charges at start, charges were added in excess of the maximum and could be be missed.

Since Shadows over Innistrad is considerably more rare than MID or VOW, some players consider the third tier reward of a Shadows over Innistrad pack superior to either the first place reward of an Innistrad: Crimson Vow pack or the second place Innistrad: Midnight Hunt pack. They may attempt the tricky process of getting a sufficiently high score to get third place but not so high as to place higher.

In some brackets, it may be necessary to give up the last individual reward, effectively trading two Standard Rares for one Legacy.
