Terrors in the Shadows (TiS) is a PvP Legacy event introduced in August 2016, along with the release of the Shadows over Innistrad set.

Each battle in this event has a secondary objective to summon a pair of thematically terrifying creatures.

Prior to December 2016, Terrors in the Shadows was a Coalition event. In October 2021 its rewards were updated to feature the newly-released Innistrad: Midnight Hunt set, and Innistrad: Crimson Vow rewards were added in May 2022. TiS had long been an especially competitive event, due to its rewards being from an old set which is harder to acquire

Special rules

Color restriction	One or more nodes in this event can only be played by Planeswalkers of a specified color.

Enraged	Side: Both	Turns: 5
After 5 turns, both players become enraged and deal double damage.

Since Shadows over Innistrad is considerably more rare than MID or VOW, some players consider the third tier reward of a Shadows over Innistrad pack superior to either the first place reward of an Innistrad: Crimson Vow pack or the second place Innistrad: Midnight Hunt pack. After the rewards change, some players began pulling their punches, and trying for third place Shadows over Innistrad Rewards on purpose. It is a tricky process to get a sufficiently high score to get third place but not so high as to place higher.
