Legacy

Overview
Each card set is either Legacy or Standard. Legacy card sets are all card sets older than a certain age, excepting Origins, which is always a Standard card set.
In some game updates, one or more of the oldest Standard sets are moved out of Standard and into Legacy.
Legacy decks and events are indicated by a blue banner:

In events
In a Legacy format event, decks may be played containing cards from either Legacy or Standard card sets. The increased freedom in Legacy events often makes them a higher-powered affair than Standard events.
In decks
Any deck containing at least one Legacy card is a Legacy deck, and may not be played in Standard events.
