Kaito, Bane of Nightmares is a black and blue human Planeswalker, introduced in October 2024 along with update 6.9.0 after the Duskmourn card set.
His mana gains are strategically set to two high bonuses in his colors, and a small backup bonus in Red. His deck limits are balanced, with an extra Spell.
On release, his abilities were much more expensive; all three were patched in the very next update to cost the same : 08 loyalty. All three summon one or more Kaito Shadow Clone tokens. His first is a combination of Surveil and card draw. The second destroys a target opposing creature, and gains mana. The third buffs friendly and stuns enemy creatures.
Kaito, Bane of Nightmares is the third of a number of playable Planeswalkers in MtGPQ which embody Kaito at different points in their life story.
